Cirrus and Ipsos LEAD welcomed 50 HR leaders to The Ivy in London on 15 March 2017 for the launch of our third annual Leadership Connections research report. This year we focused on HR’s role in business transformation.
Previous Leadership Connections research reports have explored how HR leaders connect with the C-suite, contribute to strategy, and develop agility and innovation. This year’s research finds that HR can effectively drive transformation by focusing on the areas of purpose, empowerment, and collaboration.
Opening the event, Helen Wilson, managing director of Ipsos Loyalty, set the scene by exploring some of the wider social, political and economic factors which are causing organisations to transform. Our research findings were then presented by Nicky Little, director and head of consulting at Cirrus, and Sean Mills, executive director of Ipsos LEAD. Nicky and Sean highlighted:
- Whether it’s transformation or evolution, every organisation interviewed for our research project said they are facing major change
- People would rather work for a cause than a company
- HR’s role in empowering and engaging employees
- Why collaboration, agility and connected leadership are core to successful transformation.
During a series of roundtable discussions, our guests shared their own insights and experiences. Despite coming from a varied range of organisations (including British Airways, BT, GSK, HSBC, Marks & Spencer, Royal Mail, Sainsbury’s Argos and Three), the key research findings resonated widely.
