Cirrus is a world leader in agile leadership and virtual learning. Our CEO Dr Simon Hayward reflects on the COVID-19 crisis and the opportunities it offers to organisations.
The past few weeks have been a period of intense transformation for most of us. I do hope you are well and getting through these challenging times in good shape.
At Cirrus, we have been transitioning our face-to-face learning and assessment programmes to virtual delivery to support our clients’ leadership learning and talent needs in line with their longer-term goals. Fortunately, virtual has been a strength of ours for many years.
I have been reflecting on what the COVID-19 pandemic means and what opportunities it creates for our clients. It looks like there are two key and related trends hitting organisations right now. The need to be more agile in the face of unprecedented disruption and the need to work and lead people virtually.
We all know by now that the pandemic is a massive jolt to the world, primarily from a health point of view, but also in terms of the economy and how organisations operate. We recognise the crisis is causing significant challenges to our clients’ organisations with reduced demand, disrupted supply chains, business interruption and home working. We also know that becoming more agile through the widespread adoption of new ways of working has been a challenge for some time.
I believe we need to use this crisis as a jolt to trigger and accelerate the shift to an agile culture and ways of working across our organisations. And it starts with leadership – how leaders at all levels interpret this crisis and how they communicate and behave with their teams over the coming weeks and months will determine whether your organisation embraces the jolt to becoming more agile, or whether it locks down and protects the status quo. We are renowned as experts in agile leadership – what it means and how to embed it. In this digitally connected world, we see many clients focusing on scaling up agile working as part of a wider transformation to be deeply customer-value driven.
We need to enable our leaders to make a choice, to see the opportunity and to seize it with both hands, so that they work day by day through the disruption to create a new mindset and new ways of working across their teams. They need to become skilled at leading and working in a virtual world and they need to embrace and embed agile ways of working – at the same time.
We believe we can help you engage your leadership population through virtual and digital channels, to make this choice and to make changes happen. We are among the best in the world at virtual and digital learning in the leadership and management space – we have been doing it for a long time. The shift to virtual learning is going to be a structural shift in learning delivery, in our view.
One example of this is the Cirrus Strata app, which can help you set goals, create habits, and change the way you lead in a virtual world. Watch this two-minute video to see how it can increase the impact of Cirrus development programmes in line with being increasingly agile.
As we watch the world of work change around us, let us use this opportunity to accelerate change across organisations – to become more agile, to make more thoughtful and effective decisions, and to implement change more quickly. All delivered virtually to leaders and teams many of whom are working from home. Let us help you seize the day and make it happen.
If you’d like to discuss agility and virtual learning, we’d love to talk to you. Please get in touch any time. Thank you.
