BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE

We are looking for an innovative and proactive business development specialist with a successful track record of following up leads, arranging appointments, and building positive relationships with prospects and clients.
This is a pivotal role in our marketing and business growth team to help us transform leads into business opportunities and achieve our ambitious growth targets. You will be part of a collaborative, supportive and high-achieving team within our client-focused, innovative organisation.
You will need to demonstrate excellent telephone, email and face-to-face communication skills, and an ability to build rapport with senior contacts in an articulate, confident, and engaging way.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a consultancy or other professional services environment and an understanding of virtual learning, leadership development, engagement, and talent assessment.
You’ll be a high-achieving self-starter who is also a great team player, capable of using your own initiative to accomplish goals and working as an integral part of the wider team to realise shared objectives. The primary focus of this role is to arrange business development meetings for account directors and client partners. You will follow up leads, identify new business opportunities, and build relationships with prospects and existing clients.
Your key goal is to arrange an agreed number of business development meetings every month. Additional goals include encouraging contacts to attend our range of marketing masterclasses and events and ensuring these contacts are followed up.
You will own and drive the lead management process and confidently manage lead follow ups with account directors and client partners to maximise opportunities.
You will be expected to use a range of communication channels including telephone, email and social media messaging to arrange meetings, encourage event attendance, and build relationships. You will also support account directors and client partners with appropriate research and materials to ensure successful meetings.
Another key element of the role is managing the CRM database and supporting colleagues to ensure all business development activity is captured on our CRM. You will hold regular one-to-one meetings with key colleagues to ensure all leads and prospects are continually nurtured, as well as attending regular marketing and business growth meetings where you will share weekly updates on progress in line with agreed goals.
Skills and experience:
- Experience of B2B business development in a consultancy or other professional services environment
- Proven track record of arranging business development meetings by telephone, email and social media messaging
- Experience of using Salesforce or a similar CRM database and supporting colleagues to use databases effectively
- Excellent communication skills – professional, friendly and persuasive telephone manner and writing style
- Experience of the digital marketing platform HubSpot
- Computer literate with excellent Microsoft Office skills
- Understanding of virtual learning, leadership development, engagement and talent assessment.
Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire or London
While we are observing current UK government guidelines, this role will be home-based. Subsequently, this role could be based in either our Wilmslow or London offices and a split between home and office-based working would be considered. Ideally you will be based within commuting distance of Wilmslow or London.
Dedicated office space or a defined working area in your home would be a bonus.
