The challenge
Network Rail set about creating a better railway for a better Britain. It needed to develop senior leaders capable of leading its challenging transformation.
With demand for rail travel increasing, Network Rail faced complex challenges. They wanted to become more commercial and effective quickly. Network Rail needed to break down silos and get 35,000 employees to innovate and problem-solve together. To make that happen, leaders needed to create a culture of collaborative working.
The solution
Cirrus developed a comprehensive leadership development programme following an extensive tender process. The programme consisted of four two-day modules:
Tomorrow’s People: to increase self-awareness using emotional intelligence and 360 degree feedback
Tomorrow’s Relationships: to build quality relationships that create high-performance teams
Tomorrow’s Organisation: to innovate, problem solve and collaborate to address future challenges
Tomorrow’s Change: to deliver change and the bigger picture with leadership development plans
Business simulations enabled participants to role play challenging situations in a safe environment. Project work and coaching support helped embed learning in the workplace. A digital surround provided relevant insights, hints and tips.

All participants agreed their leadership abilities had improved following the programme.
