Cirrus held a wonderful launch event for our CEO Dr Simon Hayward’s Connected Leadership book on Wednesday 13 January at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in London.
The book was recently published by FT Publishing and is currently WHSmith’s Business Book of the Month.
Jacqueline Moyse, head of organisational development at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, welcomed guests to the hotel’s beautiful Rosebery Lounge. Mandarin Oriental is a featured case study in the book and Jacqueline talked about the company’s rich heritage, unique style and strong values. Its mission is ‘to delight and satisfy our guests’. This strong sense of purpose combined with clear operating principles enables employees in different parts of the world to provide the very best in luxury hospitality, while also reflecting the culture of each individual location.
Simon then talked about the aims of the book, which is a real-world guide for leaders who are keen to build more agile, customer-driven businesses. It is based on over 25 years of leadership experience as well as five years of intensive doctoral research at Alliance Manchester Business School.
We then welcomed Tanith Dodge, director of HR at Marks & Spencer. Tanith talked about the M&S journey of transformation in recent years which has led to it becoming a more ‘connected’ organisation. Agility, collaboration, entrepreneurism and simplicity are now core ways of working, underpinned by the values and attributes at the heart of the M&S brand.
Both Jacqueline and Tanith have worked closely with Simon across a range of organisations for 20 years, and Cirrus is extremely proud to work closely in partnership with both Mandarin Oriental and M&S. We would like to thank Jacqueline, Tanith, and all the guests from a very wide range of organisations who helped to make the evening so very enjoyable.
There will be another Connected Leadership book launch at Alliance Manchester Business School on Tuesday 19 January from 6.00pm – 8.00pm. Simon will be introduced by Professor Fiona Devine, head of the business school, and will talk about Connected Leadership, followed by a Q&A session. If you are interested in coming along, please let us know.
