Dr Simon Hayward’s real-world leadership guide

The first book by Cirrus CEO Dr Simon Hayward will be published in the UK on 8 December 2015. Connected Leadership: How to build a more agile, customer-driven business provides a clear, practical guide for business leaders who wish to create more connected, agile and customer-oriented organisations in a digitally connected, customer-driven 21st century business environment. The book is published by FT Publishing.

“A great read for managers and leaders who want to make a difference, full of stories and tools everyone can relate to. This book will really help you.”

Paul Matthews, CEO, UK & Europe, Standard Life

Based on over 25 years of leadership consultancy experience and five years of doctoral research, this book identifies five factors of Connected Leadership and highlights the leadership behaviours that enable these factors to become embedded and sustainable.

“The rigour of academic research enabled me to create a model of Connected Leadership,” says Simon. “Working in partnership with clients, I was able to further develop the model and ensure it could be successfully applied in the real world.”

The book features a range of case studies from much-admired organisations including Standard Chartered, Marks & Spencer, PayPal, Mandarin Oriental, Three UK and Shop Direct, which demonstrate what effective connected leadership looks like in practice.

“Adopting the principles of Connected Leadership has had a lasting impact on Three UK.”

David Dyson, CEO, Three UK

It also contains a series of tools and techniques that can be used to diagnose an organisation’s current position and plot a successful course to achieve more connected ways of working.  It is, at heart, a real-world guide to changing leadership style and approach to align an organisation’s culture and values with those needed in a world where the prevailing models of command and control are so obviously failing.

“Simon Hayward has helped us to build more connected leadership across Marks & Spencer as we develop the capability of leaders in line with the values and attributes at the heart of the M&S brand. Forming these meaningful connections has galvanised leaders to lead change.”

Tanith Dodge, Director of HR, Marks & Spencer

We are absolutely thrilled that WHSmith has selected Connected Leadership to be its Business Book of the Month in January, so look out for it at airports and mainline train stations in the UK. The book is also available to order online now from WHSmith, Amazon, Waterstones and Pearson. It will be available in the United States and Australia from January 2016.

We would love to know what you think of Connected Leadership. Please do tweet or email your views and leave a review on Amazon to share your thoughts with others.
