Jenny Perkins is head of engagement at Cirrus. She works in partnership with many of our clients including Tesco Bank, Marks & Spencer, Tate & Lyle and RB to help them engage colleagues with their overall purpose, values and goals.
“Employee engagement is important to every organisation I talk to,” says Jenny. “It is a real strategic imperative. While initiatives such as health club membership and free fruit in the office can increase wellbeing, true employee engagement goes much deeper. At Cirrus, we develop strategic engagement programmes that build critical connections between your purpose, your people, and your customers. Deeply engaging employees with strategic goals can require widespread behavioural change. To do this, we often use ‘disruptive’ methods to successfully shift people’s mindsets and create lasting cultural transformation.”
Jenny’s background in advertising, marketing and communications has given her a rich understanding of how to engage both employees and customers. During a career which spans more than 25 years, she has gained first-hand experience of senior leadership in global organisations as well as many years’ involvement in creating and delivering leadership development and brand engagement programmes. She has also been an executive board member of Investors in People and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Jenny’s work with Tesco Bank on their ground-breaking Customer Engagement Programme has been recognised by the CIPD People Management Awards, who have shortlisted Cirrus in the category of ‘Best L&D Consultancy’.
“We worked with Tesco Bank to gain a deep understanding of what a great customer experience would look like within the unique context of Tesco,” says Jenny. “It was a truly collaborative process. We worked together to define the experience Tesco Bank wanted to give customers, to design the programme, and then to co-deliver. We worked with the board, operations, team leaders and CSRs. That level of engagement across the organisation has helped to get wholehearted buy-in and create a real sense of ownership.”
Senior leaders at Tesco Bank have commented that Jenny “nurtured our clear view of the future and helped us to understand it more than we first did” and said that “the partnership with Jenny and Cirrus has worked well because they have an intimate understanding of our business.”
