Our clients at Pentland Brands were paid a special visit by Prime Minister, David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg on 25 July.
Pentland Brands is the name behind some of the world’s best sports, outdoor and fashion brands including Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, Ellesse, and many others. The visit showcased the company, which sells its products in almost 200 countries, as a great example of a British-based, globally-operating business, investing in creativity and talent. Over the past five years, UK sales have grown by 18% and international sales by 33%. Research and development, product design and creative marketing are all originated in the UK.
During the visit, both the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister spoke to a number of employees, including interns and recent graduates.
The Prime Minister said that, “Pentland Brands is a business … that’s grown substantially over the last few years, taking great brands and making them even greater. It’s a real value added industry and exactly the kind of business this government will continue to back as part of our long-term economic plan.”
Andy Rubin, Chief Executive of Pentland Brands (pictured above with David Cameron) added, “We are proud that our innovations and designs, created by our talented teams here in the UK, are sold all over the world. As a third generation family company, our advantage is that we take a long-term approach to investing in talent, innovation and growing our business globally.”
In 2014, Pentland Brands was voted Best European Family Business of the Year and was ranked the 8th best workplace in the UK and 18th in Europe by the Great Place to Work Institute.
There was more good news for Pentland Brands this week. The business was shortlisted for the Personnel Today Award for Excellence in Employee Relations and Learning and Development Partner Rachel Maher was also shortlisted in the category of HR Newcomer of the Year.
