Cirrus CEO Dr Simon Hayward has contributed to a new research report from The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The report, Reimagining agility: change, empowerment and the organisation of tomorrow, explores how agility is currently manifesting in a world rocked by digital upheaval and an earth-shattering pandemic.
Simon, who is author of The Agile Leader and an honorary professor at Alliance Manchester Business School, is an expert in agile leadership and business transformation.
The business philosophy of agility has been tested in recent years and the report’s key findings include:
- Agility’s focus on the agency of the individual is providing the foundation for success amid profound changes in relationships between workers, companies, partners, customers and broader society.
- Agile companies have been able to respond quickly to the crisis of Covid-19, rolling out new services more rapidly in response to shifts in demand.
- Managers and the C-suite have had to examine their own role and priorities, calling on their skills as enablers to drive their teams and organisations through a succession of challenges.
Simon further explores the need for more agile leadership in a world rocked by the Covid pandemic, digital disruption, climate change and other enormous changes in the updated, second edition of The Agile Leader. In the book, he addresses many of the challenges highlighted in this report, including how to develop the skills of agile leadership and build connections across and beyond organisations.
